Woman Crush Wednesday: Sadie Saxton

Sadie Saxton may be a fictional character in MTV’s Awkward, but her strength, sass, intelligence, and loyalty make her a lovable lady (yes, I said lovable AND lady to describe Sadie) . Here are some of our favorite Sadie (perfectly played by Molly Tarlov) moments that exemplify why she is this week’s #WCW. You’re welcome.

Sadie’s Strength

“If you tell anyone I’m having this soft side moment I swear I will cut you.” Sadie never likes being seen as weak. She can stand up to adults and peers alike without any fear. When she stood up for Matty at graduation, I applauded her.

Sadie’s Loyalty

When it comes to the people she cares about, Sadie will stand by their side. They’re also the rare people around whom she will let her guard down. Matty, Lissa, and Sergio are some of the best examples of that. And, now, it seems Tamara will be replacing Sergio in #SadiesSquad. Sadie has mostly been against Jenna dating Matty because she knew how much he cared about Jenna.

Sadie: You need to watch it.
Jenna: Watch what?
Sadie: Whatever it is that is going on between the two of you. Even though Matty is blind to your treachery I’m not. I know when something is up, and something is definitely up.

Sadie to Jenna: Collin is gonna leave you high and dry just like you did with Matty. What goes around comes around, and karma’s a bitch.

Also, one of the few moments Sadie apologizes to anyone was to Lissa, her best friend, when they had a fight in season 4.

Her relationship with Sergio is one of my favorites on the show. He takes her crap and calls her out on it; she lets herself be vulnerable. It’s a perfect match.

Sadie’s Intelligence

Sadie graduates as the valedictorian of her high school class. She always knew she wanted to get as far away from home as possible so, even though she was horribly mean to most people, she did take school seriously so she could get into NYU.

Sadie’s Sass

Obviously, Sadie’s sassiness is one of her best qualities. There isn’t an episode of Awkward that goes by that doesn’t have a fantastic one liner from Sadie that makes us laugh and/or put someone in their place.

Taraneh

Taraneh has been happily living in NYC for over a decade, but originally hails from the Midwest. Enamored with books at a young age, she grew up making stories, playing make believe, and loving the musical and performing arts. She is great at binge-watching TV shows. Some current favorites: Schitt's Creek, A Court of Mist & Fury, Prince Harry, and The Magicians.
