This or That: Team Captain America or Team Iron Man

Team Cap or Team Iron Man

With Captain America: Civil War hitting theaters this Friday, the question on everyone’s mind is…Team Captain America (Team Cap) or Team Iron Man?

Here’s the plot: After innocent lives are lost, the government decides it’s time to regulate the growing number of superheroes. Iron Man supports the initiative, while Cap does not. The Pop Culturalist team weighs in with our new series: This or That!

Captain America, hands down, because classy 1940s charm will always win out over Tony Stark’s snark any day of the week. Unlike Iron Man, Captain America didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth and is the real American success story: he was a scrappy kid who has grown into a superhero.

Team Captain America all the way because I think they all should be slightly weary of handing over control of their powers. More often than not in this universe, government officials have malicious intentions and little knowledge of superhuman abilities. I would rather put my faith in Captain America and his team who’ve saved the world time and time again.

Even though it’s a Captain America movie, I’m pumped to see Spider-Man in a bona fide Marvel production. And With Peter Parker siding with Tony Stark, my choice was easy: Team Iron Man!

Diane
Sorry Iron Man, but I’m going to have to go with Steve Rogers on this one. That man and his kick butt team exude bravery, loyalty and passion. Plus, his shield is way cool. Red, white and blue > a big chunk of iron.

Captain America, for sure, because the all-around “good guy” will always win in my book. Iron Man is just too cocky and arrogant to be likable.

Kevin
I’ve got to go with Team Cap…even though Spider-Man is on the other side. They’re called superheroes for a reason and they’ve done a great job self-regulating.

Christine
I believe in world government cooperation and regulation (how else are we going to tackle global warming?) so I’d have to side with Iron Man. Despite how attractive Captain America is…

Which side are you on? See Captain America: Civil War in theaters on May 6th.
