Ones to Watch: Tom Holland
Captain America: Civil War opened nationwide this weekend. And, there’s one star that everyone’s been talking about. While you may have guessed Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., or Sebastian Stan, it’s actually Tom Holland. The young actor is bringing Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.
If you don’t know the backstory, Sony has owned film rights to the character since 1999. Last year, both parties reached an agreement regarding our favorite web-slinger. And, it’s definitely been worth the wait.
Although Tom Holland only has a few scenes in Captain America: Civil War, they’re some of the most memorable. He brings a new take on Peter Parker—that’s refreshing and very different from past interpretations. It’s easy to see why he was cast over the other actors fighting for the role. Plus, an endorsement from Thor himself doesn’t hurt.
With a film like Captain America: Civil War, it’s difficult to standout. But, that’s exactly what Tom does. He showcases his charisma and leading man qualities, which will bode well when he suits up in his own solo film: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). And, that’s why Tom Holland is one to watch.
