This fall season on television has been full of great new shows. From new comedy series to hour-long dramas, 2016 has been a banner year for tv, and the team here at Pop Culturalist has been busy watching it all.

While it’s hard for us to pick favorites, we did (we should also mention that we did have several honorable mentions to this list: The Good Place, Westworld, Frequency, and Macgyver). Here are the five shows that we think everyone should be watching:

Divorce, HBO, Sundays 10/9C

[This] show (starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church) has really captivated me with the story and characters. What makes a new show great to me is how easy I am able to connect to the characters, to feel like they are best friends that I’ve known for years. This show embodies that. I feel like it has a great future. -Anthony

Eyewitness, USA, Sundays 10/9C

Oh, man! How do I choose just one? That’s like asking a parent who their favorite child is. If you held a gun to my head…I would say Eyewitness on USA Network. It’s a limited series about two male teenagers who witness a horrific triple homicide when they meet for a secret rendezvous. Juicy, right? Every character on the show is complex and the storyline has me on the edge of my seat. Plus, it’s introduced me to Tyler Young, who is incredible! -Kevin

Insecure, HBO, Sundays 10:30/9:30CST

What’s there not to love about this show? Issa Rae honed her chops on YouTube with her “Awkward Black Girl” series. This show is the polished older sibling to her YouTube videos. A funny, wry, self-deprecating comedy about twentysomething Issa as she navigates her stagnant relationship and coworkers who just don’t get it. -Christine

Fox’s new show tells the story of Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury) as she struggles to become the first woman to play in the MLB. With a stellar cast and well-written narrative, this show is bound to be a home-run. -Diane

This is Us, NBC, Tuesdays 9/8C

I’ve already gushed about why you should be watching This is Us, but I won’t stop! The entire cast (Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiligia, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, and Sterling K. Brown) is fantastic, and the writing is wonderful. There is the right blend of serious, emotional scenes with light-hearted, funny scenes. You’ll be rooting for this family from the first episode. -Taraneh

So, hopefully one of our favorite new shows will become one of yours. Happy watching!
