Younger S4E6: Interrupted by a Cupcake

Younger season 4 episode 6

This episode of Younger had SUCH A GOOD ENDING. Before we get to that, here’s a quick recap.

Kelsey and Zane are dating now so there’s a whole bunch of texting and tweeting between them going on. So much so that their tweets start to garner public attention…which includes Charles. He tells Kelsey that she needs to watch what she’s doing. When she realizes that their phone time really is a part of their relationship, she calls a truce. Zane takes both their phones from the bedroom to put them in the kitchen and, naturally, sees a text coming in from Charles about how much Empirical needs to offer L.L. Moore for his contract renewal. Obviously, Zane steals him away creating a whole lot of drama (and what looks looks to be the end of Zane and Kelsey’s romance….for now.).

Meanwhile, Liza has a nice dinner out with Caitlin. Since the weather is nice, they’re dining out on the sidewalk and who should walk up, but Jay! The one who tried to poach Liza away from Millennial/Empirical. Completely clueless to Liza’s deep discomfort and nervousness at the situation, Caitlin outs Liza as her mom. Later, Liza meets Jay for dinner to explain everything, and, unlike any normal person, Jay miraculously agrees not to say anything to anyone about her age. Clearly, Jay is digging Liza. Another “of course” moment happens when Charles walks in for dinner at the same place and tells Liza he and Jay went to college together. Jay tells Charles that he and Liza are on a date, ensuring Liza’s secret is safe…and ensuring that Charles attempts to suppress a crazy flash of jealousy on his beautiful face.

When everything comes together at the office (the L.L. Moore fallout, Kelsey’s life imploding, and Charles’s birthday), Liza confronts Charles in his office in an attempt to help Kelsey out. Charles is pissed though, and, he starts yelling. He yells about how much losing Moore is going to financially effect the company. he yells about how hard it will be to find another author of that level. Then, the best part of the episode happens. He yells that he doesn’t understand why Liza is spending time with a 40 year old man in publishing that isn’t him! I KNOW.

Their moment is interrupted by Diana and co. bringing in a birthday cupcake for Charles, and the episode ends. SEE WHAT DID I TELL YOU?!

Oh. The small side story of this episode involved Maggie. Maggie meets an art gallery owner, Donna. They have chemistry, but Donna has a mustache. Maggie can’t stop staring at it. Needless to say, that relationship doesn’t last more than the episode. (See, that Charles ending throws everything haywire!)

Our favorite moments:

All the hate-flirting between Kelsey and Zane is electric! Also, Zane is just so hot that any type of flirting he does would be one of our favorite things.

Maggie and the mustache lady. I didn’t go into detail earlier, but, boy, is it hilarious. When they take a bath together, and Donna asks Maggie to shave her. Maggie, relieved, moves in to shave Donna’s mustache. Donna is offended because she meant shave her lady bits, not her face….

THAT ENDING. I’m just going to leave Charles’s outburst right here: “I don’t know why you’re dating a forty-something guy in publishing who isn’t me!” Swoon, swoon, swoon.
