Woman Crush Wednesday: Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke

Our #WCW is a force to be reckoned with. Emilia Clarke has been making a name for herself on Game of Thrones (as Daenerys Targaryen aka Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains..no big deal.) and, now, has made her debut as a leading star in Me Before You. Just looking at those two roles, you can see the wide-range of acting that Emilia Clarke is capable of. If you’ve read or seen any interviews she has given, you’ll also know that she’s a funny, fearless lady. Definitely #WCW material.

As Daenerys, she is inspiring–not just on the show to the people she has freed, but also to GoT viewers. How refreshing is it to see such a woman of strength on TV?! Emilia Clarke plays her so well that seeing Emilia as a normal person is jarring (sign of great acting, in my opinion).

The girl has style. Take a look through her red carpet looks and, if you’re like me, you’ll want everything.

She can make you cry. Again, this is another sign of Emilia Clarke’s skill as an actress. There is one scene in particular on the beach (don’t worry, no spoilers here) in Me Before You that is just heart wrenching thanks to her (check out our review for the film here…go see it and bring tissues).

She can make you laugh. Both in character (as silly lovable Lou) and as herself in interviews.

She has worked to be where she is today. In a recent interview for Glamour magazine, Emilia said, “‘They taught me to invest myself, feel vulnerable, commit to a character. But it was an uphill struggle. I never got cast as Juliet. There were some rarefied beauties my year; they were blond, knew Shakespeare, had all the right things. With me, they’d be like, “Can you play the Jewish grandmother?” “Uh-huh! Sure!”‘” You go, girl.

She can make fans really feel like they know the real Emilia. Her captions on his Instagram account are genuine, sometimes funny, and always always have great hashtags!
