Short films can pack as much of an emotional punch or bring as much unbridled humor as a feature length film. So why not spend some time this year watching some short films during the Tribeca Film Festival? Add these nine shorts to your watch list:

Intrigued by stories about the Hasidic community? Try this short (fictional) film about Esther, a young, married Hasidic woman, who is drawn to hip-hop and breakdancing in Crown Heights.

This beautifully animated short is about a musician and the love of his life who were separated during the time of the Mongols in ancient Persia. This is also full of gorgeous music from Saba Alizadeh. This is from the art director of the Oscar-nominated animated film, The Breadwinner.
