On the Road: Charlie Puth
Is there anything better than that feeling you get when you see an artist pour their heart and soul on the stage? Nope, we didn’t think so. In our new series, “On the Road,” we’re highlighting some noteworthy (ba-da-dum) artists worth seeing live. *I get one bad joke per post.*
To kick off “On the Road” we’re featuring an artist who owned the charts in 2015 and his debut album hasn’t even been released yet. It was impossible to turn on the radio and not hear his voice (not that we’re complaining). And, if you’re a movie-goer like myself, you definitely heard his song in the hit blockbuster, Furious 7. Haven’t figured it out yet? It’s the “See You Again” songwriter, Charlie Puth.
Side note: “See You Again” was definitely robbed an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. And, if you haven’t heard the piano version, what are you waiting for? I dare you to listen to it and not cry. Clearly, I’m upset by the snub. That said, at least he got three GRAMMY nominations. Watch his reaction to finding out the news here!
Charlie is kicking off his Nine Track Mind tour in San Francisco on March 3rd, 2016. Tickets are on sale today. And his debut album will be released later this month on January 29th.
While we’re not sure what to expect with the tour, we know he’ll be wearing his trademark T-shirt and jeans. Charlie explains, “I want the audience to look at me as a regular person but to be overwhelmed by the music. And I want them to be inspired to do exactly what I’m doing — following their dreams. Because for years, I was completely discouraged by pursuing a career in music. And now songs I’ve recorded in my bedroom are being heard by millions of people.” What a humble guy.
His soulful voice and infectious melodies make Charlie one to see #OntheRoad.
