Man Crush Monday: Matty McKibben

Matty McKibben Awkward Beau Mirchoff

Matty McKibben (Beau Mirchoff) may be a fictional character on the television show Awkward, but he is still Man Crush Monday material.

Matty McKibben began as a cute yet slightly jerk of a crush of Jenna Hamilton’s (Ashley Rickards), but he blossomed into much more than that over the past several seasons. From the moment he reveals himself to be a knight in shining armor in season 1 (anonymously supporting Jenna on her blog then magically showing up at her door and revealing his identity to her was squeal-worthy), the teenage girl in me was hooked. Here are three moments that make Matty McKibbon a great Man Crush Monday:

  • When Jake gave Matty dancing lessons before homecoming so Matty could dance with Jenna. For a high school guy to put that much effort into doing something they don’t like, you know they think the girl is special. Side note: Matty & Jake’s bro-mance is pretty darn wonderful. Matty_Jake
  • Every time that Matty has said “I love you” to Jenna, or been super supportive of her. One of the most heart-melting moments was when Matty drove Jenna home after she had been put on the “Not Hot List”. Matty tells Jenna, “You’re a good person. The best person I know, and every moment I spend with you, I get better.” *Melting*
  • Matty’s friendship with Sadie is one of the best friendships on the show. Sadie is normally so tough and rude, but she lets her vulnerable side show with Matty. One of the highlights of last season was when Sadie and Matty go to prom together, and she helps him realize that he still loves Jenna. http://www.mtv.com/video-clips/hb6yc8/awkward-sneak-peek-sadie-s-words-of-wisdom
  • And, lastly, look at his adorable smile. Definitely #MCM-worthy! Matty_Smile

The next (and last) season of Awkward premieres Tuesday, March 15. Be sure to tune in and get your Matty McKibben fix!
