Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Young Sheldon’s Raegan Revord

Raegan Revord

Raegan Revord became a household name for her hilarious portrayal as Missy Cooper on the smash hit CBS comedy Young Sheldon. As Missy Cooper, Raegan has had audiences in stitches with her sassy and brash humor, constantly challenging her brother Sheldon. Pop Culturalist had the pleasure of chatting with Raegan about this breakout role.

PC: How did you discover your passion for acting?
Raegan: As a little kid, I was always putting on shows and concerts for my parents and their friends. I loved entertaining and making people laugh. My mom’s friend suggested getting an agent for me, and after booking my first commercial, I was hooked! I asked my mom how I could get on TV shows and in movies.

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Raegan: Ms. Annie Potts! She’s so talented and has taught me so much about acting. She’s just an amazing person. She’s been working in this business for years. She’s the most thoughtful, down-to-earth person. I love her!

PC: You’ve had a lot of success already in your young career. When you look back, is there a particular moment that stands out?
Raegan: That’s tough to answer! There’s been so many, but probably getting to travel the world with the cast. We’ve gone to some really cool places and done some amazing things. I’ll take those memories with me forever.

PC: You’ve been playing Missy Cooper since 2017. Has anything surprised you about her journey?
Raegan: I really loved her story line and character development in Season 3. Getting to explore a new side to her was really exciting. Although I’m older than Missy, I experience a lot of new things through her.

PC: This is a breakout television role for you. What’s been the biggest takeaway from this experience?
Raegan: The biggest takeaway for me is having a second family. I don’t have any family in California, so it’s amazing to have that here. Like, I really consider Mrs. Annie my meemaw. I have sleepovers with her, and she lives close, so we hang out a lot. We’ve all been on this really cool journey together, so we will have a special bond forever.

PC: If you could write a storyline for Missy, what would it be and why?
Raegan: I have actually pitched a couple of story lines for Missy! I texted one of our showrunners over the break and told him about a story line for Missy. I don’t want to say what it is just in case they decide to use it.
