SDCC 2019: Inside The Order Press Room

The Order

Season one of The Order had it all and then some. Loyalties were tested and lines were drawn between the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose (practitioners of dark magic) and the Knights of Saint Christopher (werewolves). There was action, unexpected romances, shocking reveals, and a season finale that left us with tons of burning questions. Lucky for us, we sat down with the cast and creator of The Order at San Diego Comic-Con to chat about season one and what’s ahead.

Adam DiMarco on what’s in store for season two:
“Fans can be excited to see more of what they love times ten. The writers pay attention to the fans’ feedback. I think they’ll be interested in seeing where the werewolves end up. We all lost our memories at the end of the last season.”

Adam DiMarco on the shocking development between Randall and Lilith:
“They don’t tell us much. I actually didn’t know Devery was going to play my love interest. We were playing a brother-sister type relationship, but I guess it turned out to be more of a Game of Thrones’ brother-sister relationship. [laughs] I think it makes sense if you really look at the characters. Hopefully, they’ll be more Randall/Lilith stuff in season two.”

Devery Jacobs on the future of Silverback:
“I’ve read episodes one and two and I can say that Silverback does choose somebody, and it’s not someone that you’d expect! There’s a little bit of rule-breaking with what happens with that.”

Devery Jacobs on Lilith’s most shocking relationship:
“I think the relationship that surprised me the most was with Randall—we only found out in episode seven. That was a surprise to both Adam and myself! We were like, ‘Oh! We haven’t been playing it this way, but let’s venture into this direction. That was definitely of a surprise, but it was a pleasant and fun surprise. It shows how relationships are ever-changing, and apparently, I’m attracted to idiots.”

Louriza Tronco on representation:
“Representation is absolutely important. I’m really happy and proud to say I’m Filipino…I get so much love from the community, especially on Instagram. They’re always saying, ‘I’ve never seen someone who looks like me do something like this.’ I think that’s so special. I hope to continue to represent it more and more.”

Louriza Tronco on where she’d like to see Gabrielle’s storyline head:
“The audience really responded to Gabrielle’s darker side. The reason that she has that side is because The Order fills a void for her. Going into her backstory would be really cool. I would love to have more scenes with Sarah, Devery, and Katie—I love all the women scenes! The guys are cool too. [laughs]”

Dennis Heaton and Shelley Eriksen on season two:
“More horror and more hilarity! The world opens up for both the Knights and the Order. We start to see how these secret societies exist in a bigger environment than just the university campus.”

Sarah Grey on Alyssa erasing Jack’s memory:
“I’m so upset. When I first read that, I felt for Alyssa; it was a punch in the stomach. I get why everyone’s so upset. I’m with you. When I looked into it and thought about it, I realized she did what she absolutely had to do.”

Sarah Grey on where we find Alyssa in season two:
“I feel like it might wear on her—I feel like it would on anyone. It’s going to be an ongoing struggle. It’s a lot on her shoulders. I think it’s going to be an internal struggle, but she’s so focused and so driven that she’s going to continue with the Order. I think she might find out as she goes more into that secret society that it might not be what she thought it’d be.”

Katharine Isabelle on the softer side of Vera:
“We have read the first two episodes, and they’re fantastic! They deal with the chaos of what happens at the end of season one. I hope to see more of what brought her to where she is now—she’s quite mysterious. I liked to see a little behind that facade of severity. You got to see that at the end of season one, and I hope we will see in season two how much she really does love these kids…as long as they don’t get in the way of her agenda.”

Thomas Elms on his journey with the series:
“It’s really cool to meet people who are as emotionally involved in this thing as you are. I wouldn’t be here without them; I would be selling sweaters or busting my ass waiting tables. But here I am, I’m surrounded by all these incredible people that are asking me questions about my training, my character…it feels a little bit like now it’s all about you. It feels a little weird, but at the same time there’s this incredible sincerity and honesty that everyone comes up to you with, so you let go of that pressure. You forget about saying the right thing or the smart thing…whatever that is. You take a breath and you start talking from your heart—it’s the most amazing thing. The positive response was such a rewarding feeling. I’m still getting over it. Here we are ramping up to season two and we’re at San Diego Comic-Con!”

Thomas Elms on the future of Hamish:
“It was awesome until I get to the last couple of pages. Then I was like, ‘Oh no…oh god. They took the eye of Apollo.’ I was pissed. I was surprised at how affected I was. Everyone around me was like, ‘It’s a good thing, Thomas! If we get a season two, there are a lot of different ways we can go with it.’ What’s cool about season two is we get to hit the ground running. You know the world now, you know the characters, you know the relationships, so let’s go deeper! I want to know what Hamish’s family life is like. What is the relationship like with his father? He’s been lying to them for eight years so he can stay in college and be a vigilante.”

Season two of The Order premieres in 2020, but you can binge-watch season one on Netflix today!
