Production Begins on Paradise the Movie Starring Mary Sarah and Raquel Castro

Paradise the Movie

Production on the bluegrass musical comedy Paradise the Movie is underway in Los Angeles. With director Justin Ward (Relish) at the helm, the film centers around Paradise, a Southern coal-mining town that is hit by financial hardships. Hope of salvation arrives with a fast-talking evangelist (Jon Root, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and a Latin TV producer (Eric Casalini) and their reality television show concept. Only the town’s matriarch-by-default, Louanne (Mary Sarah, The Voice Season 10), has reservations. The preacher and TV producer team up with ex-stripper Chastity (Raquel Castro, The Voice Season 1) to save the town—but things are not as they seem, and the plan may be far more shocking than the townsfolk first realized.

Rounding out the production are writers Bill Robertson and Tom Sage of National Lampoon fame, who also serve as co-producers with Brad Wilson. Award-winning director Justin Ward (The Meanest Man in Texas and Relish) is directing. Music is composed by Cliff Wagner and co-produced by Tor Campbell.
