Pop Culturalist Chats with Wesley Stromberg

Wesley Stromberg

You may know Wesley Stromberg as one-third of Emblem3. But did you know he’s branching out on his own solo career? Yup, you read that correctly. And yes, we’re just as excited. The heartthrob recently wrapped up his tour and released his new app, Wesley Stromberg, which is available on the App Store and on Google Play. We chatted with him about being on his own and what’s to come.

PC: What was it like wrapping up your latest tour?
Wesley: It was my first solo tour so, as you could imagine, the pressure was on! I needed to bring a new vibe with a whole new energy, and I can fully say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! The tour was legendary. Fan support was at an all-time high, and I couldn’t be happier with the turnout!

PC: What’s a typical day on tour like? Do you write in between gigs? How do you unwind after a show?
Wesley: A typical day on the road is always a good day. I get up bright and early like the birds, I workout, grab breakfast. and start rehearsing and writing. I always stay writing. Then I hang with the fans at the M&G, play a kick-ass show. After every show, my team and I celebrate. Then we do it again. The reason I always write while I travel is that it keeps it new and exciting. I see new places and have new experiences so there’s always new stuff to write about.

PC: You’re currently working on some new music. When and what can fans expect?
Wesley: I’m always writing. If I’m not performing, I’m writing. Fans can expect consistent new material being released weekly via my free music app Wesley Stromberg available in both the App Store and on Google Play Also, I have BIG plans for a single release and video coming later this year. I’m currently talking with labels to find the perfect release plan.

PC: It’s the first time you’re stepping out on your own—are you nervous about that? What are you most excited by?
Wesley: It IS my first time stepping out on my own so I am very nervous, of course, but it’s a good nervous. I’m ready for it—ready for a new chapter, ready to show people my voice in a whole new way, and ready to bring them into my world.

PC: How will it be different from your previous albums?
Wesley: It’s going to be different in many ways. It’s all coming from my perspective. My heart, my soul, and no one else’s. We have one cook in the kitchen now, and I’m taking you out for fine dining 🙂

PC: Is there anyone you’re hoping to collaborate with?
Wesley: I’d love to collaborate with artists like Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande…or maybe sing a hook for someone like Jon Bellion or The Chainsmokers!

PC: You recently launched an app. It’s a very cool way to interact with fans and share new music. How did it come to fruition?
Wesley: My app is an amazing way to interact with my fans and to release underground tracks, giving them a more raw version. I’ve never been able to do that before.

PC: Do you have any other secret projects you are working on?
Wesley: I have a serious secret project I’m working on. I feel that it is my best work…but I won’t release it until everything is perfect.

PC: How has the technology and social media changed the industry?
Wesley: Technology and social media have drastically changed the industry. I’m so lucky to have so many loyal fans supporting and tuning into what I am up to consistently. It’s like I live a double life. They think they know everything because they see so much, but they really only know the half of it. Someday I will give them the whole picture.

PC: What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned since breaking onto the scene?
Wesley: The game is like being the tastiest fish with the prettiest scales, and you have to try to swim to the other side without being eaten by sharks. You’re also lost in the swarm of all the other fish and being watched by the fisherman from above. The game is crazy. I’ve learned that family and true friends are the most important thing.
