Exclusive Interview: Aubin Bradley Talks The Really Loud House, Reprising Her Role, and More

Aubin Bradley

Aubin Bradley is a rising star who has taken the industry by storm. This fall, she’s reprising her role as Lucy Loud in The Really Loud House. Pop Culturalist was lucky enough to speak with Aubin about the new series, what fans can expect from her character, and more!

PC: How did you discover your passion for storytelling?
Aubin: I initially discovered my passion for storytelling through dance. I love the contemporary style of dance and using the movement of my body and emotion to tell stories. I then started acting at a pretty young age, following in both of my sisters’ footsteps, and discovered I loved acting. It felt very natural to me. The reason I love it so much is that I actually get to tell stories by becoming these characters and hopefully connecting with audiences and touching their hearts and making them laugh.

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Aubin: There are so many actors that I admire and who influence my work, but it is my mom who has had the most significant influence on my career. She has had a successful career and worked so hard to achieve her dreams that many told her were impossible. My mom has always said to me that I can do anything that I put my mind to and work hard for. She truly believes I can do anything and has helped me believe in myself and know I can accomplish my goals, whether that is playing soccer, being on TV or Broadway, or even becoming a NASA rocket scientist.

PC: You’ve had success on the stage and screen. What have you learned from your experience in theater that you’ve been able to apply to your career in film and television and vice versa?
Aubin: My first love was theater, and nothing can replace the excitement and butterflies you get when performing in front of crowds of thousands like I did when I was little Cosette in Les Misérables Broadway National Tour. I feel like once you can perform and sing under that kind of pressure, energy, and excitement, you can do anything. It taught me to always be prepared. You don’t get a redo if you mess up or your energy or character is off in theater. You have to bring it from the very beginning. So when I go on set for film and TV, I bring it from the very first take! Working in TV has allowed me to play a wider range of characters, which I believe has really helped me grow as an actor.

PC: Because of the success of A Loud House Christmas, Nickelodeon is bringing you all back for The Really Loud House. How did you find out about the news? How did you celebrate?
Aubin: When I saw and heard the fans’ reactions to A Loud House Christmas, it was amazing. I was so happy that they loved the live-action movie because the animated series is just incredible.

I played Lucy in the movie, and my real sister, Catherine, played Luan, and we worked so hard on being true to the cartoon characters but also tried to make them more relatable. We hoped the audience would love our interpretation as Lucy and Luan were tough shoes to fill!

Catherine and I were together when we found out about the series. My mom called us from Costa Rica literally screaming on the phone so excited and happy for us that we could barely understand her when she got us on the phone together. Once mom calmed down, Catherine and I were literally jumping up and down. There may have been a few tears! To celebrate, my dad took me, Catherine, my older sister Alex, and my older brother Colin out to dinner for a celebration and then to ice cream after!

PC: What was it like getting to step back into Lucy’s shoes? What can you tease about her storyline in The Really Loud House?
Aubin: It felt like I never took Lucy’s shoes off. Lucy and I are very different, but we have a lot in common, like our love of spooky things, Halloween, reading, and scaring people. I have also brought some of my mischievous self to Lucy’s character this season and she may crack a smile or two during the series. Also, you are going to see some different sides and talents of Lucy!

PC: If you had to pick the scene/episode that you’re most excited for audiences to see, what would it be and why?
Aubin: Well, in one of the episodes, I get to impersonate the style of one of my sisters, which was so fun, and I may have a new creature that will give Edwin a run for his money! I also have an episode with some “cheese” that really sticks out to me in so many ways and that included some of Lucy’s school friends. It was so much fun to work with all the new young kid actors in this episode, and the costumes were epic.
