Bye, Bye Baby: Joseph Leo Bwarie Says Goodbye To Jersey Boys
It’s a sad day for my fellow Jersey Boys fans; the beloved Joseph Leo Bwarie is officially ending his eight year run as Frankie Valli. The actor announced that his last performance will be on April 24th on his official Facebook page this past Monday.
There’s a lot to be said about this meritorious performer and his impressive résumé. Before landing the role in the Tony winning Broadway production, JLB played Frankie Valli in the National Tour and Las Vegas productions. He proudly holds the record for most performances as Frankie Valli (over 2,000) having being involved with the show for a decade. JLB has also released three albums, directed and developed the play Billy & Ray, accumulated an estimable amount of film/television credits and actively helps those in need by working with charities (he’s an ambassador for Cycle For Survival). Is there anything this man can’t do?
Many fans will agree that JLB is a joy to watch on stage. His enthusiasm is infectious and it’s remarkable how he remains so energized and passionate even after performing the show thousands of times. It’s no exaggeration that the crowd goes wild for him every time. You can’t help but be in awe when you hear him sing “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
There’s still no word as to who will be replacing JLB in the Broadway production but we have a few guesses: Dominic Scaglione Jr. and Nick Cosgrove have valuable experience as Frankie, both stepping in to the role for Wednesday and Saturday matinees. We’re left wondering if Dominic will be returning to the show as Frankie full-time (he’s been part of the Broadway production for years, alternating with other actors). Another potential replacement is Mauricio Perez, who is currently in the Broadway production as a swing and frequently steps in as Frankie. One thing is for sure: whoever succeeds JLB has big shoes to fill.
Although fans are sad to see him go, we are sure the future holds many amazing opportunities and projects for this young star.
