Ones to Watch: Eyewitness’ Tyler Young

Tyler Young

The Fall TV season is in full swing and that means there are a crop of fresh faces gracing our screens. One actor that’s caught our eye (see what we did there?) is Tyler Young. He plays Philip Shea on USA Network’s heart-racing crime thriller, Eyewitness—which premiered last week. And, let’s just say, his storyline and character are…complex. Although, only one episode has aired, it’s clear we’re watching the emergence of a new star.

Born and raised in Chicago, Tyler honed his craft at The Theatre School of DePaul University. His résumé include appearances on Empire and Chicago Fire. And, he starred as the lead in Disney Channel Europe’s The Avatars. But, it’s safe to say, Eyewitness is poised to be Tyler’s breakthrough performance.

Tyler’s character is a foster child who use to live in the city with his drug-addicted mother. But, now, he’s adjusting to life in a small town with a new family. He’s also involved in a secret relationship with another classmate of the same gender. When the two boys sneak off to the forest, they witness a horrific triple homicide and barely make it out alive. Desperate to keep their relationship under wraps and fearing that they’ll be found by the perpetrator, the boys remain silent. But, the events from that night will have a ripple effect. And, we can’t wait to watch the story unfold. Check out the official trailer below:

The role is a departure for Tyler. But, he’s shown he can tackle any character—especially one as intricate as Philip. He brings strength, vulnerability, and empathy to the role. And, we’re glad his character is at the forefront of the story.

Eyewitness airs on Sunday on USA Network at 10/9C. Keep up with Tyler on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
