Top 5 Moments from Younger…So Far

Younger season 2 begins Wednesday night, and I’m pretty excited. Ever since I first glimpsed Josh (Nico Tortorella) in the first episode, I’ve been salivating over him (but, then again, anyone with eyes and a pulse should be too). So, I’m totally getting ready to stoke the flames of my Josh-crush once again. We’ll also find out exactly how Liza (Sutton Foster) juggles her daughter’s re-entry her newly duplicitous world, and we’ll check in with Kelsey’s (Hilary Duff) climb up the work ladder (and maybe we’ll see some development with Thad, played by Dan Amboyer). If we’re lucky, we’ll get some solid Maggie-scenes (Debi Mazar), and, maybe, some additional eye candy from Charles Brooks (Peter Hermann) scenes (but please please keep Liza and Josh together!).

  • When Liza firsts meets Josh. Watch the clip above and pay attention to the look he gives her at 1:22. How can you not get the squeals during that moment? Then, again, around 2:19 when Josh grabs Liza’s phone, and ballsily (yes, I did make that word up), makes a date for the next week.

  • I love this scene solely for the fact that it is totally doing a throwback to Sex and the City (by Darren Star who is also the writer, producer, and director of Younger). Remember when Carrie gets her diaphragm stuck, and Samantha gamely helps her get it out? Yeah, Kelsey’s having her Goddess Cup stuck and getting it out with Liza’s help is definitely that SATC scene, updated for today’s generation. Also, it’s pretty darn chuckle-worthy.

  • Everything about when Josh introduces Liza as the girl he’s “hanging out with” to his friends is amazing. The awkwardness you can feel radiating from the screen; the clogged bathroom toilet; the request that Liza grab toilet paper from the restaurant’s bathroom (what young New Yorker short on cash hasn’t done that before? I definitely have.). Also, Josh is all sorts of adorable. Then, again, when isn’t he?!

  • Diana has a string of great lines throughout season 1 of Younger. This one is a pretty darn good one–not just because it’s zingy, but also because any female New Yorker would agree with the sentiment. Wait for it around 0:45: “He’s straight, handsome, intellectual, and available. it’s like finding a snow leopard in your backyard.” Amen, sister.

  • Not only is it the first time they’ve said “I love you” to one another (Josh’s declaration is super sweet), but it’s also a moment we’ve been waiting (and worrying) all season for: Liza comes clean about being the big 4-0. Honestly, I think he took it pretty well…considering they were in the middle of Lauren’s Hot Mitzvah and not entirely sober. You can’t help but laugh a little when he says he sometimes feels like an old fisherman…until a few seconds later when the truth hits him. Then, it’s almost devastating and left me praying that Liza and Josh would make it through this.

One runner-up scene that I melted at was, of course, the very end of Younger‘s season 1 when Josh agrees to keep seeing Liza (clips of that are just a bit hard to find!). Now, bring on season 2 of Younger! We’ll be watching–will you?
