When I first saw the trailer for T@gged, I was intrigued. It looked like a psychological thriller that would keep me up all night. And, if it was done correctly, guessing until the very end. But, some time had passed from when I saw the initial trailer and when the show premiered on go90. I’m embarrassed to say, I totally forgot to tune in. Thankfully—after one binge-worthy weekend—I’m fully caught up. And, I’m happy to say, it hits the mark.
T@gged tells the story of three high school students who are targeted on social media by an anonymous user named ‘Monkeyman’. Hailey (Lia Marie Johnson), Rowan (Lulu Antariksa), and Elisia (Katelyn Nacon) must solve the mystery of who is behind the mask before their lives are ruined forever. If they can’t, the consequences could be deadly.
While the premise may sound familiar, the show is a standout for the genre. The characters are smart and resourceful. And, there isn’t one single moment when you’re yelling at your screen in frustration. The writers are even able to add a bit of humor. A scene that had me chuckling is when the girls receive a clue from ‘Monkeyman’ and bring it to Rowan’s older sister, Brie. Naturally, Brie solves the clue but also tells the girls they could have easily googled it. And, that’s exactly what I was thinking.
T@gged stars a crop of fresh talent that you’ll want to keep an eye on:
But, more importantly, the show has a great message about being careful about what you share, what you post, and who you friend.
The season finale airs on September 13th. And, I’ve been on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who ‘Monkeyman’ is. Here’s hoping for an epic conclusion and possibly a second season. Go90 and AwesomenessTV make it happen! Seriously.
