MTV has never been one to shy away from tough subject matters. The network is known for pushing the envelope and bringing awareness to topics and issues we need to be discussing. Their latest dramedy, Sweet/Vicious, is no different. The must-see show is giving a voice to survivors of sexual assault and it’s unlike anything on TV right now. Writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has created one of the network’s most important shows to date.
Sweet/Vicious is part drama, part superhero saga. And, it’s centered around two kick-ass characters: Opehlia (Taylor Dearden) and Jules (Eliza Bennett). They’re college students by day and vigilantes by night. Together, they’re taking the law into their own hands and bringing justice for students who were sexually assaulted on campus. Think Veronica Mars meets Kick-Ass. And, simply put, it’s bad ass.
Taylor Dearden and Eliza Bennett are captivating in their roles. Their characters are well-written and their odd-couple banter is always sharp and clever. And, when they’re kicking some ass as ninjas, it’s pretty special. For us, they rank amongst some of the greatest duos in TV history. They’re joined by an extraordinary cast of fresh faces which includes the charming Nick Fink, the witty Brandon Mychal Smith, the exuberant Aisha Dee, and the villainous Dylan McTee.
Like our heroines, Sweet/Vicious is edgy, smart, and powerful.
