‘The Originals’: Where Do We Go From Here?

The Originals has said goodbye to yet another prominent character, Davina Claire, as well as the devilishly handsome but purely vindictive Lucien. I’m not too broken up by the loss of Lucien – although I did enjoy his character – but Davina came as a shock to me. Many times she’s been in danger and at the hands of supernatural beings, but I never thought she would eventually bite the dust and her blood would partially be on Elijah’s hands.

Davina had the misfortune of being a casualty on the way to eradicating Lucien, trading her life for the power to defeat Lucien, which will undoubtedly upset more than one of our beloved characters. Kol appeared to be a changed man, or vampire, thanks to Davina and now he seems to be on a path of vengeance. Marcel cared for Davina like a daughter and clearly holds the whole Mikaelson family responsible for Davina’s untimely death. Marcel’s on a warpath and Elijah’s shaky alliance with him seems to have shattered entirely. Vincent was clearly outraged by Freya choosing to help her family over saving Davina. Anyone who cared for Davina will now have their sights set on the Mikaelson family and their destruction.

They will be in good company as the Mikaelson’s have a bigger target on their back then they’ve ever had before. This ancient family is no longer perceived as invincible and anyone is capable of making a big power play. All eyes are on Marcel as he is the most likely candidate at the moment to challenge the Mikaelson’s, not only in Davina’s honor, but to resume control over New Orleans. We can hardly rule out the Strix, as they are the best and brightest vampires who were hand picked by Elijah himself back in the day. The wolves of the Bayu always pose a threat, as they may no longer see Hayley fit to lead by firmly aligning herself with the Mikaelson’s. Jackson’s death will not be in vain and it’s certain his pack holds these ancient supernatural beings responsible.

Only time will tell where this all will lead and who be left standing. One thing is certain, no one is safe and there will undoubtedly be more casualties as alliances rise and fall. It’s going to be a bumpy road to the finish line!
