#TBT: Favorite Graduation Moments on TV

It’s graduation season which means we’re fondly remembering all the wonderful graduations our favorite characters on some of our favorite television shows had. Enjoy all the caps, gowns, speeches, and goodbyes (and, in some cases, hellos)!

Awkward

It wouldn’t be Awkward without some drama, and their graduation was no exception. Sadie, their valedictorian, was bared from graduation because of drinking at prom, but it didn’t stop her from crashing graduation and making her speech. In true Sadie style, it was amazing:

Anyone can say whatever the hell they want to say about high school. We can all be the tellers of our own stories. This is good news for those of you who aspire to something other than robotic, bougie, suburban mediocrity, and for those of you sad losers who actually peaked in high school, well, you have about ten minutes left, so soak it up, bitches! Know this: life isn’t fair. It’s not a meritocracy, so do not rely on fairness or luck or charity. You have to rely on yourself. Be the hero of your own goddamn story, because if you’re not, you will end up locked out of your own graduation and locked into a sad, pathetic, little life. Got it? It’s up to you to write your own story! You’re welcome!

Felicity

This fantastic series started off with a high school graduation that was literally life-changing. The moment when Felicity gathers up the courage to ask her forever-crush, Ben, to sign her yearbook changes the course of Felicity’s life. Also, what girl didn’t swoon when Felicity reads exactly what Ben wrote to her? Heck, I would have dropped everything and gone to New York, too.

Saved by the Bell

The only thing that didn’t make the end of this show sad was the fact that we got to see (most) of our favorite Baysiders go to college. However, graduation was still a sweet send-off to high school and everything that happened there.

Boy Meets World

Graduation was almost overshadowed by the fact that in this episode (at the end, of course) Topenga proposed to Cory. Shocker! However, there were still wonderful moments of characters realizing what high school has meant, what they should have done, and what they can do. As always, Mr. Feeny had words of wisdom to bestow before he retired. One of his best was to Shawn: “What you end up doing, Mr. Hunter, is up to you. It always has been. I’m just here to point out what page we’re on”. Great final teaching moment, Mr. Feeny!

Greek

Simply because it was so satisfying watching a majority of characters graduate that had made me keep watching Greek in the first place.
