Exclusive Single Premiere: Darro’s “Undefined”

Alt-rock guitarist/songwriter Darro is no stranger to overcoming obstacles. After returning to the U.S. from grad school abroad, Darro’s life took an unexpected turn. The Asian-American musician and producer was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and the rehabilitation process sent him back to square one. He had to learn to speak, chew, and sing all over again. But, he’s maintained a positive throughout and channeled that experience into his inspiring new song, “Undefined”—premiering here exclusively!

“I like to think of ‘Undefined’ as the song about my ‘ugly-duckling’ phase. This song was born during the worst parts of my pre-brain surgery life. Anxiety was at an all-time high, I couldn’t sleep, I was diagnosed with depression, and my body was in the worst shape of my life; all because of my brain tumor. I constantly felt like no one could relate to the struggles I was going through, and I essentially felt secluded and outcast. I needed a reason to keep going, something to motivate me, and that’s what this song is about. It’s about overcoming the mental doubt and anxiety that I was placing on myself and finding strength to continue in my journey. It’s about finding motivation, inspiration and the will to keep going from myself, rather than external sources or outside validation,” Darro tells Pop Culturalist.
