Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Mia Martina

Mia Martina is an international popstar who’s gained notoriety for hits including “Stereo Love,” “Latin Moon,” and “Sooner or Later”. Late last year, she continued to build on her impressive career with the release of her new EP, Daydream, which includes the global smash, “Different Kind of Love”. Pop Culturalist caught up with Mia to chat about Daydream.

PC: How did you discover your passion for music?
Mia: As soon as I saw a piano at four years old, I was fixated on it. I started singing everything I was hearing on the radio.

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Mia: My parents. Their unwavering support and encouragement pushed me to follow my dreams.

PC: What’s one thing you know now that you wish you knew when you started this career?
Mia: How important it is to read the fine print when you sign contracts! Also, always think with your own best interest in mind.

PC: PC: You’ve had a lot of success already in your career. When you look back, is there a particular moment that stands out?
Mia: Definitely when I headlined my own show in Russia for 200,000 people—that was the biggest and most humbling moment of my life. Seeing how music can reach so many people and realizing that I had made my dreams into reality was such a big moment.

PC: You recently released a new EP. Tell us about Daydream and the inspiration behind the collection.
Mia: Daydream was definitely a compilation of the records that I had recorded in the past two years that I felt needed to be released. I also wanted to show how I’ve evolved as an artist and the musical direction I’m going in.

PC: If you had to pick one song off of Daydream that best encompasses you as an artist, which would it be and why?
Mia: “Daydream” is definitely it. From the lyrics to the production, it perfectly describes where I am right now with my artistry. You can definitely expect more sounds like that from me in the future.
