Book Review: The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi

The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi comes out on September 21st, 2021. It’s a young adult, fantasy/historical fiction.

This is the last book in the series and it did not disappoint! This book contains the following representation: biracial (Algerian, French) protagonist, own voices Indian (Tamil) protagonist, Jewish protagonist, biracial (Haitian, French), and the main character who is biracial (Filipino, Indian).

In this conclusion to The Gilded Wolves trilogy, readers will head back to the 19th-century world one last time. The stakes are higher and danger is lurking behind every corner. The following is a spoiler-free review!

Highlights

• I adored the found family trope in this book. I adore Zofia, Laila, Hypnos, and Enrique.
• Each of the characters has their own individual journeys. They all have one shared journey, which I loved reading about.
• This book is going to put you through a lot of pain, but it’s one you won’t want to miss! You’re not ready for this ending, but this book is one of my favorite books of 2021!
• Roshani’s prose is beautiful and lyrical.
• The Zofia-Enrique-Hypnos dynamic left a smile on my face.
• This book has very high stakes! If you’re a fan of Shadow and Bone or An Ember in the Ashes then this is one you’ll want to read. The first book in this series is The Gilded Wolves.

Lowlights

• It’s not exactly a con, but I would have loved to read more about Severin. I loved learning a little more about his upbringing, but I would have liked to know more!

Final Thoughts: Woe, what an ending! Roshani’s books always have the perfect endings. I binge-read this book relatively fast and I highly recommend this series to anyone.
