Best Disney Movies of the 2010’s

With a new decade comes an abundance of new shows and movies. While we’re looking forward to the up and coming, Pop Culturalist wants to reminisce on some of the most iconic animated and family movies of the past decade. Get ready to snuggle up next to your loved ones and watch a few of the top-ranked Disney movies of the 2010’s for movie night this weekend.

Moana

An instant crowd-pleaser, Moana is undeniably one of the best movies of the decade. Filled with action and adventure, the film features genuine belly laughs and heartfelt emotions, this is unlike any other Disney movie you’ve seen before. Writers skip the romance and set the scene for a movie that centers itself around the pride of our origins and fighting for what you believe in.

Incredibles 2

The highly-anticipated Incredibles 2 was released in 2018 and has since received an Oscar nomination and critical acclaim. The sequel is packed with cutting-edge animation while staying true to the charm and nostalgia of the original movie.

Alice in Wonderland

The Oscar-winning Alice in Wonderland featuring Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, and directed by Tim Burton, brought all of our childhood nostalgia to life. The icons reminded us to use our imaginations and dream big. The visually stunning masterpiece will make an audience laugh, cry, and reminisce.

Inside Out

Psychological file, Inside Out tackles the complexity of our emotions, placing the main character at her most vulnerable moment. Pretty deep for a family movie, and yet such a powerful message to those who watch it. Inside Out advocates for emotional honesty, while also encouraging viewers to understand others’ emotional complexities as well.

Frozen

Undoubtedly the most iconic animated film of the decade explores the importance of family and support. Not only is the film a strong message for girls to encourage each other, but it also dives into the concept of being capable of reaching the same goals that men reach. “Let It Go,” may still be stuck in our heads, but we aren’t complaining.

Beauty and the Beast

Emma Watson as a Disney princess is the best thing to happen since sliced bread. Although some live-action films become flops, the Beauty and the Beast was a phenomenal hit, thanks to Ms. Watson. Her grace and character made Belle’s character become real to us.

Coco

Coco is yet another Disney movie that is far more unique and hits closer to home than most family movies. The emotional maturity and heritage in the film is unlike any other movie you’ll see, landing it on Rave Reviews’ ranking to No. 2 out of the Best Movies of the Decade.
