Younger Recap 2.3: You’ve Been Ghosted

The group is celebrating Millenial’s inception. Josh is surprised to learn that Liza has not, in fact, told Kelsey about her real age. Liza’s solution? To just not hang out with her work friends and Josh at the same time. Real smart, Liza, for someone who thinks she is in a real relationship.

Kelsey and Liza are planning their big Millenial imprint launch. Even though Liza is bringing to life this new imprint, Diana proves a point and tasks her with more assistant responsibilities. First of which is using Diana’s Fitbit to make sure that Diana wins her daily challenge against a friend. Lauren brings Kelsey and Liza to Hecter & Dorf (a very weird pairing of a Germanic guy and Hispanic guy…they’re supposed to be so over-the-top that they’re funny, but…not-so-much) so Kelsey can get a killer outfit for the launch party. They discuss Liza’s lack of talking to Josh (“He’s ghosting you!”), and Liza doesn’t even try to explain. Her trend of not explaining things is definitely going to go south, real soon.

Maggie lost a buyer for an art piece so she asks Liza to stay with Josh so she can airbnb her place out. Instead, Liza is going to crash with Lauren because she and Josh aren’t talking. Turns out, Maggie is running a sex party out of her place to make some extra cash. Josh stumbles on it when a party goer stops in his tattoo shop asking for directions. Josh goes up and seems pretty unfazed (totally not surprised that he would have that reaction, actually). Josh and Maggie have a brief chat about Liza. Maggie schools Josh (“My life was not complicated before meeting Liza”) saying, “She’s an adult. That’s part of why you fell for her.” So true.

At the imprint launch party, there’s another Charles and Liza encounter. Charles has a couple buttons undone (swoon) and has his eyes on Liza all night long. As Kelsey wears a ridiculous Hector & Dorf creation (she looks like a shell), she starts having a panic attack. Liza has a good mom moment with Kelsey: “You have people around you to help you get up.” Liza then spy-speaks Kelsey’s welcome speech (you know, ear piece hidden in Kelsey’s ear with Liza standing in the crowd talking…yeah, like no one around her would notice that happening *eye roll*). Charles aka “Hawk Eyes” notices Liza helping Kelsey out which adds to his little crush on Liza. Josh miraculously appears just when Charles gets a glimmer of being the main man (Charles & Josh meet….ah hotties colliding!) which leaves Charles crestfallen (he may not actually have acted like it, but I know he was) and Josh with the girl AND the champagne. Josh basically agrees to go along with Liza’s age deception with her work friends because “some secrets are worth keeping.” (aka Josh misses making out with Liza). Josh really deserves a gold medal in being a nice guy! Let’s see how long this lasts….

Highlights:

“I want to live an authentic life. That’s just who I am.” –Josh. Although I rolled my eyes at his use of “authentic life”, I do love that he simply doesn’t ever want to lie about anything. What you see is what you get. So refreshing.

“If anyone needs me, I’ll be in my crypt.” –Diana. This woman is an endless source of amazing one liners.

“You only look weird in the front. Your ass is on point.” Thad, telling it like it is. I don’t know why Kelsey even put on that weird oyster clam shell dress in the first place.

“Where’s my boy Josh? You scare him off again?” You may be a total douche, Thad, but you at least can see that Liza is the one messing up with Josh.

“He’s been ghosting me…it’s when someone evaporates into thin air with no explanation.” Um, not true, Liza. Josh told you he needed time to think (because you willingly lie to your friends every single day) AND that he was not ok with lying. Also, you could call him.
