Woman Crush Wednesday: Saoirse Ronan
Saoirse Ronan and her Irish brogue have burrowed their way into Hollywood. After her recent round of appearances at award shows earlier this year, Saoirse has made it clear that she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Although she has been acting since she was a child (and quite well, might I add), she has come into her own. Saoirse Ronan has quietly became one of our favorite actresses not just because of her talent, but because of the way she handles herself in interviews (composed, fun, and not at all like other child stars who have grown up). Let’s take a look at why Saoirse is our pick for Woman Crush Wednesday:
- She made us feel all the feels in the stunning movie, Brooklyn. Seriously, I needed several tissues to dry my eyes during this film. Saoirse’s heartfelt performance was relatable to anyone who has ever moved away from home and created a new home on their own. If you haven’t seen it, watch it immediately. (Side note: she often explained during interviews how her journey in real life was similar to the one she took as Eilis in Brooklyn. See, relatable!)
- Her fashion is ON POINT. I particularly loved her Oscars look. It made me green with envy (pun intended). Seriously, I want it…along with the mismatched earrings.
- Saoirse would make a fantastic game night partner.
- She has great acting chops. At only 21, she has now been nominated for an Oscar twice–once for Atonement (she was 13 at the time) and recently for Brooklyn. She’s also done a wide-range of types of film–from serious to more light-hearted. Her turn in The Grand Budapest Hotel was delightful; her performance in The Lovely Bones was moving. Additionally, she is currently making her Broadway debut as the vicious Abigail Williams in The Crucible.
- Saoirse can make a mean spot of tea. Never underestimate the power of a good cup of tea.
