Tribeca Film Festival 2021: 10 Shorts to See

Short films can pack as much of an emotional punch or bring as much unbridled humor as a feature length film. So why not spend some time this year watching some short films during the Tribeca Film Festival? Add these nine shorts to your watch list:

Blush
An astronaut crashes onto a desolate planet and meets new life in this sweet animated short.

Cupids
Three kids dream up the perfect partner for their bus driver in this short comedy.

David
Watch it to see William Jackson Harper in another zany comedy (yes, I may always think of him as the wonderful Chidi on The Good Place) where he plays David, a man looking for help from his therapist.

Enjoy
If you loved Himesh Patel in the feature film Yesterday or the series The Luminaries, you’ll want to see this short where he plays a man looking for ways to bring himself out of depression.

Esther in Wonderland
Intrigued by stories about the Hasidic community? Try this short (fictional) film about Esther, a young, married Hasidic woman, who is drawn to hip-hop and breakdancing in Crown Heights.

Graceland
Check out Anna Camp as a Southern mom whose daughter suddenly claims to be Elvis reincarnated.

The Kicksled Choir
This Oscar-nominated short is a must-see. A young boy dreams of joining a local choir that raises money for refugees, but has to stand up to his father who does not like having refugees around.

Liza Anonymous
A lonely woman hops from support group to support group in this short, changing her character so she can try and find somewhere she fits in.

Namoo
In this animated short, you’ll follow a beautiful journey through one man’s life shown through the changing of his tree of life. A touching, simple narrative from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Erick Oh.

Navozande, the musician
This beautifully animated short is about a musician and the love of his life who were separated during the time of the Mongols in ancient Persia. This is also full of gorgeous music from Saba Alizadeh. This is from the art director of the Oscar-nominated animated film, The Breadwinner.

All are available to watch online for the duration of the festival. Find out more about the Tribeca Film Festival at Home for 2021 here.
