Trailer Reaction: Me Before You

Guys, if you haven’t seen the trailer for Me Before You, go grab yourself some tissues and hit that play button! This latest book-to-film adaptation will give you ALL THE FEELS! But, who isn’t a fan of a great love story? I know I am and if you’re like me you’ve already added the book to your must-read list. And, have probably already watched this trailer multiple times.

Me Before You stars Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Sam Claflin (Hunger Games). Thank you casting Gods! Two of my favorite actors in the same film? Is this real life? Yes, please.

When the trailer opens, we’re introduced to the quirky Louisa Clark, who’s been struggling to keep a job and willing to work just about anywhere. But what she’s about to stumble upon may change her life forever. The small town girl becomes the caregiver to Will Traynor—a wealthy, quick-witted, disabled man.

We get a glimpse of their growing friendship (wink, wink), watching them share secrets like Louisa’s favorite childhood outfit (spoiler alert: bumblebee stockings). And, then all the feelings start. Cue Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph.”

As Will’s tough exterior slowly fades away, Louisa becomes more and more comfortable around him. Eventually, we see the pair go on a date. Louisa armed with her scene-stealing red dress. Not to be outdone, Will leaves everyone swooning when he asks Louisa to wait a few more minutes so he can enjoy being the man who went to a concert with a girl in a red dress.

It’s clear that Will’s disability has changed his life. He’s given his family six months before he wants to die but Louisa urges him to stay with her. Louisa refuses to let him go and seeks the advice of a father figure, who tells her “you can’t change people … you can only love them.” How amazing does that scene look? Louisa definitely made me want to cry. And like any good romantic drama, Will wants the love of his life to be with someone who can give her more. But, is there anyone else for her? I think we all know the answer to that but that doesn’t make me want to see the film any less.

Me Before You opens nationwide on June 3rd, 2016. Until then, live boldly. Live well. Just live.
