SDCC 2026: Jack Quaid, Alice Lee, Ishmel Sahid, and Kiana Madeira Talk ‘My Adventures with Superman’ Season 3

Adult Swim’s My Adventures with Superman has quickly become one of the freshest takes on the Man of Steel, balancing superhero spectacle with heartfelt character development, laugh-out-loud humor, and an endearing romance at its core. That winning formula was front and center at San Diego Comic-Con, where the cast and creative team reflected on the current season and what still lies ahead for Clark Kent and his closest allies.

Joining the panel were executive producers Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clougher, writer Karen Graci, and the series’ core voice cast: Jack Quaid (Clark Kent/Superman), Alice Lee (Lois Lane), Ishmel Sahid (Jimmy Olsen), and Kiana Madeira (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl). Together, they discussed how each character continues to evolve as new allies, new adversaries, and even greater personal challenges reshape their journeys throughout Season 3.

While the current season promises plenty of thrilling action and memorable surprises, the panel made one thing abundantly clear: at the heart of My Adventures with Superman are characters who continue to grow alongside one another. From Clark embracing the responsibility of becoming Superman to Lois, Jimmy, and Kara navigating love, family, and vulnerability, the series remains just as invested in its emotional storytelling as its superhero spectacle.

Three seasons in, Jack Quaid admitted the experience of voicing Superman still feels surreal.

“I never in a million years thought I’d be any version of Superman,” Quaid shared. “It’s a dream come true. The fact that I get to voice him for another season is also a dream.”

What continues to resonate most with Quaid is the show’s distinctly Clark-forward interpretation of the iconic hero. Rather than beginning with an already fully realized Superman, the series follows a young man raised in Kansas who’s still discovering how his Kryptonian heritage fits alongside the life he’s always known on Earth.

“I think we’re going for a Clark-forward take of Superman,” Quaid explained. “He was born on Earth. That’s all he knows. He’s a boy from Kansas. He’s learning about his Kryptonian origins.”

That journey reaches a new milestone in Season 3 as Clark begins to fully embrace the hero he wants to become.

“I love what we’ve done with this character,” Quaid said. “This season, he really tries to get to be Superman.”

Lois Lane also finds herself entering unfamiliar territory. Alice Lee explained that while Lois has always approached every situation with her reporter’s instincts leading the way, Season 3 asks her to navigate challenges that can’t simply be solved by uncovering the truth.

“She’s always had her reporter’s hat on,” Lee said. “She wants to find out the truth using whatever tactic.”

As family becomes a larger part of Lois’ story, she’s forced to approach those relationships differently. Lee shared that Lois gradually discovers a softer side of herself, learning to temper her determination with empathy while embracing her maternal instincts.

Jimmy Olsen’s journey is equally emotional, even as he continues to provide many of the show’s biggest laughs. Ishmel Sahid revealed that Jimmy faces much higher emotional stakes this season, particularly as he wrestles with expressing his feelings for Kara while continuing to be the dependable, lovable friend audiences know.

“It’s the stakes,” Sahid said. “Jimmy has a lot to lose.”

Balancing Jimmy’s trademark humor with that vulnerability has been one of the most rewarding aspects of Season 3 for Sahid, allowing the character to explore every side of himself, from his erratic energy to his desire to love and be loved.

No character, however, may undergo a bigger transformation than Kara. Kiana Madeira reflected on how guarded Supergirl was when audiences first met her in Season 2 after arriving on Earth carrying years of trauma and distrust.

In Season 3, Kara decides to give Earth and the people around her a genuine chance.

“She wants to give Earth a try,” Madeira said. “She wants to love.”

As Kara opens herself to loving her cousin, her friends, and even the possibility of romance, she also discovers that love comes with risks.

“When you’ve closed off that emotion, there’s nothing to lose or fear,” Madeira explained. “Now she’s loving her cousin. She’s loving her friends. She’s potentially having a love interest.”

For Kara, learning to love also means learning to live with the possibility of heartbreak, making for what promises to be one of the season’s most compelling emotional arcs.

While each member of the core cast continues to evolve, executive producer Jake Wyatt explained that the show’s expanding roster of characters exists to push those journeys even further.

“In Seasons 1 and 2, it was spiritually and internally about these characters that had to be retained,” Wyatt said. “Once we got to Season 3 and started introducing characters, we asked, ‘What is eternal about them? What interests us about them? What makes them the most difficult for our main characters?'”

Rather than simply adding familiar faces from DC lore, Wyatt explained that every new character is introduced with a purpose: to challenge Clark, Lois, Jimmy, and Kara in ways audiences won’t necessarily see coming, forcing them to grow in unexpected directions.

The panel also teased a few surprises still to come this season. Alice Lee revealed audiences can look forward to a musical number, while Quaid shared he’ll also be voicing Bizarro, giving him the opportunity to play two wildly different versions of Superman.

With its signature blend of exhilarating action, heartfelt romance, sharp comedy, and genuine character growth, My Adventures with Superman continues to prove that some of the best Superman stories aren’t just about saving the world. They’re about the people learning who they are while trying to protect it.
