Pop Culturalist Chats with Cailee Rae

When Cailee Rae posted her first Instagram video, she could have never predicted what would happen next. It made her an overnight sensation and one of music’s rising stars. Fans from around the world were mesmerized by her enchanting voice. And, since then, she’s continued to use social media as a platform to share her talent and even launch a career in the music industry. We were lucky enough to chat with this songstress about her new EP, career, and her CaiBaes.

Overthinking Questions

PC: Tell us a bit about your EP, Overthinking. What was the recording/songwriting process like?
Cailee: Overthinking was my first real, large project that I am so proud of. I’m so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to work on it and share it. The process was really different for each song. Some started from basic ideas and some where from just jam sessions.

PC: What do you hope fans take away from listening to the EP?
Cailee: I just want them to know that everyone feels things. Everyone goes through all sorts of emotions and that is okay. We are human and the best you can do is just be you, and look at the positive. I just want to connect with my fans through that.

PC: Do you have a favorite song on it?
Cailee: “Surrender” is my favorite. I just love the beat.

PC: If you had to describe the EP in five words, what would they be?
Cailee: Personable, unique, relatable, emotional, and diverse 🙂

PC: How did you come up with the title of the EP?
Cailee: Honestly I was truly “overthinking” it and all the songs really just sum up a girl overthinking all aspects of growing up.

Career Questions

PC: Who is an artist or band that you would love to collaborate with?
Cailee: Shawn Mendes. I think he is so talented.

PC: How did you get started in music? And, when did you know this is what you wanted to do?
Cailee: It started from pure interest. It was something at a young age I was really into and interested in. When I was in second grade I got a guitar and the rest is history. I just knew it what was I wanted to do the first time I got into a studio. It felt so right.

PC: What is your favorite part about being a musician?
Cailee: Connecting with people all over the world. I love my CaiBaes.

PC: If you weren’t a singer, what would you be doing?
Cailee: Probably baking. I love baking. I love music a million times more though 🙂

PC: Are there any upcoming live shows you’re planning and can chat about?
Cailee: I’m hoping that I can plan some little intimate shows around the U.S. so that I can meet my CaiBaes and perform for them soon.

PC: Who are you inspired by?
Cailee: I’m just inspired by life. I think there is inspiration in everything if you want there to be.
