Global superstar GSoul pens a love letter to his fans with the release of his first-ever English-language EP titled Natural. The five-track collection highlights GSoul’s powerhouse vocals and showcases his most raw and vulnerable work to date. Pop Culturalist was lucky enough to speak with GSoul about the project.
PC: How did you discover your passion for music?
GSoul: I have always loved singing for as long as I can remember. I fell in love with R&B music growing up.
PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
GSoul: Mariah Carey.
PC: You’ve had a lot of success throughout your career. When you look back, is there a moment that stands out?
GSoul: There have been so many amazing moments. One moment that stands out is when I won amateur night at the Apollo. That was surreal.
PC: Tell us about Natural and the inspiration behind the EP.
GSoul: It’s my love letter to my fans and loved ones.
PC: If you had to select a song off of Natural that best encompasses who you are as an artist, which would it be and why?
GSoul: I can’t choose. [laughs] All of them show different sides of me as an artist and a vocalist.
PC: You’ve said in previous interviews that this is one of your most personal works to date. Was it ever a scary prospect to tap into that vulnerability?
GSoul: You can only be truly strong when you can be vulnerable. I find my strength in my vulnerability and that’s how I communicate with my fans through my music.
PC: As we look ahead to 2022, what can fans expect from you?
GSoul: Hopefully, touring!
