Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Foursome’s Rahart Adams

Australian heartthrob Kent Saydak was the talk of the hallways when he transferred to Breyer High School in season two of the longest-running YouTube Original, Foursome, just like the actor playing him, Rahart Adams. He caught the eye of Andie Fixler and won her heart, but last season a major bombshell was dropped that changed everything. We were lucky enough to chat with Rahart about the impact it’ll have on his character moving forward.

PC: Where does season four pick up? What can you tell us about Kent’s storyline?
Rahart: We don’t really pick up this season where we left off. Some time has passed and the foursome is at a place now where they’re about to embark on new journeys in their own separate lives, which creates a different dynamic amongst them that I don’t think anyone’s seen or even thought about.


At the beginning of season four, Kent is in a completely different state than what we saw in season three; he’s a lot more introspective. He’s more concerned about getting out of Breyer than staying in it. It makes for an interesting dynamic for him.

PC: Foursome is the longest running YouTube Original and you joined in season two. What has being a part of that milestone meant for you and what initially attracted you to this project?
Rahart: The fact that Foursome is the longest running YouTube Red show is super, super amazing to me. When I joined, I wasn’t even thinking that far ahead. With any project, you take it for what it is and you see how it goes. Season by season, we all got a lot closer as a cast. We became more of a family instead of work or cast mates. Foursome definitely holds a special place in my heart. I got to spend so much quality time with the cast and I’ve learned so much from this process. It’s a huge personal triumph for me.

PC: How similar or different were you to Kent in high school?
Rahart: [laughs] Kent and I were very different in high school. I didn’t go to an American high school or play football; I went to an Australian high school and we didn’t even have American football. I wasn’t the cool kid in school. I wasn’t the person that everyone was talking about like Kent Saydak is. Actually, I was like more like Andie and the foursome. I had two really close friends and we stuck together. We floated around, enjoying our high school careers, much like the foursome does.

PC: Towards the end of last season, we learned Kent’s intention for coming to Breyer. Will that play a factor in season four?

Rahart: It will! Even though his actual intention for transferring schools isn’t a huge focus this season, the outcome will play a massive role for him. He has to deal and live with the repercussions of that decision. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s a difficult, yet worthy life lesson that Kent has to learn.

PC: Kent and Andie have had ups and downs in their relationship. From the trailer, we see that they are heading towards a more platonic friendship. What can you tease about their dynamic this season?
Rahart: The dynamic between Andie and Kent changes quite dramatically in season four. They’re just in totally different places. Kent’s more focused on getting the hell out of there as opposed to sticking around. He realizes what he’s done is unredeemable and he’s coming to terms with that. As a result, it changes his relationship with Andie. It’s almost torturous for him to be at Breyer now because Andie’s opinion of Kent has changed so drastically.

PC: How did you prepare to step into Kent’s shoes given how drastically he’s changed this season?
Rahart: I feel pretty comfortable playing him and being in his shoes. This season, it was more about diving deeper into Kent’s psyche because this season is more introspective for him. We never really touched on his inner being in the other seasons. In the past, it was more about Kent’s relationship with Andie, but this season is more about him—it was extremely interesting to explore. This season, for me, was the most interesting in terms of acting and being Kent because his circumstances have changed so much.

PC: This season, the foursome is re-living their ‘Most Epic Summer’. If you could have taken part in one, what would it have been and why?
Rahart: Kent unwillingly becomes part of the last item on the list, which is an epic party. For me, personally, and for Kent, it’d definitely be that one.

Rahart: Cameron or Rickey. If I’m ever feeling down, Rickey can always turn my mood around.

PC: Biggest Flirt?
Rahart: Cameron

PC: Best Dancer?
Rahart: I used to be a good dancer, but I’ll say Rickey.

PC: Most Likely to Survive The Hunger Games?
Rahart: I’m going to say me. I feel like I’ve picked up things having grown up in Australia.

PC: Most Likely to End up on Broadway?
Rahart: I’m going to say Sarah. She’s so talented.

PC: Most Likely to be a Travel Blogger?
Rahart: Jenn! She travels the most out of all of us.

PC: Most Likely to Star in Their Own Reality Show?
Rahart: Rickey!
