Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Aidan Park
Aidan Park is an emerging voice in the world of acting, comedy, and podcasting. His blossoming career includes credits in Tosh.0, Kingdom, Abducted, Trauma, and dozens of others. He performs at the most respected venues around the country, including the Comedy Store and Hollywood Improv.
Along his journey, Aidan has faced his share of adversity, especially when it comes to representation: “I’ve done nine productions of Miss Saigon, and it’s great to have Asian people be seen more than something that fits comfortably into whatever frame people want to put on. They’re like, ‘Asian people belong here,’ but nowadays, we’re being seen as more well-rounded people and I feel really lucky to be part of that movement.”
Whatever the obstacle may be, Aidan has overcome each with grace and humor, and learned many important lessons on the way. The biggest he tells Pop Culturalist is about decision making: “There are a lot of narratives out there that will affect the way you think about life and steer your ship. In this industry, these narratives are being sold to you and the masses with certain messaging, and a lot of the time, they benefit the sender and not necessarily the receiver. It’s important to be sure-footed about where you want to go and how you’re going to get there. That will make you less shakable and impressionable.”
