BookCon 2018: Books You Should Know

BookCon is, of course, all about the must-have titles from our favorite authors. YA books are the backbone of the convention, and we were super excited to see what’s coming up. Here’s what should be on your to-read list (it’s already on ours!):

Bridge of Clay, Marcus Zusak
It’s been years since Zusak has released a book (thirteen years to be exact). This story of five brothers and the secret behind their father’s disappearance is sure to be as emotional and beautiful as one of our all-time favorite books, The Book Thief.

City of Ghosts, Victoria Schwab
Another of our favorites, recently, was the Shades of Magic trilogy so we’re really excited for Schwab’s newest series about a girl who can see ghosts.

Imposters, Scott Westerfeld
A new quartet set in the world of the Uglies? Yes, please.

The King of Scars, Leigh Bardugo
Nikolai Lantsov gets his own duology…but if you haven’t read Bardugo’s Gisha universe books, not to worry. Magic, secrets, and more will draw you in.

A Reaper at the Gates, Sabaa Tahir
Like everyone else, we’ve been eagerly waiting for this third installment of An Ember in the Ashes series featuring Helene, Elias, and Laia.

A Very Large Expanse of Sea, Tahreh Mafi
We are SO excited for this one. Shirin, a sixteen-year-old Muslim girl after 9/11, faces racism and violence. When she meets Ocean James, she might just have a chance at happiness…only if she can allow herself to let someone into her life.

What If It’s Us, Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
Arthur and Ben meet-cute in the summer one summer day. From the author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, we’re pretty sure this novel will be just as heartfelt and adorable.

Wilcard, Marie Lu
The second book in the Warcross series. It’s sure to be a thrilling ride.

Taraneh

Taraneh has been happily living in NYC for over a decade, but originally hails from the Midwest. Enamored with books at a young age, she grew up making stories, playing make believe, and loving the musical and performing arts. She is great at binge-watching TV shows. Some current favorites: Schitt's Creek, A Court of Mist & Fury, Prince Harry, and The Magicians.
