Book Review: This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi
This Woven Kingdom is the first book of Tahereh Mafi’s new fantasy series. It follows a long-lost Jinn queen in hiding and the heir to the kingdom she’s fated to demolish. This book has a dual POV. The first protagonist is Alizeh, a long-lost Jinn queen who disguises herself as a servant. The second protagonist is Kamran, a prince who is next in line for the throne. The Jinns are a threat to their kingdom and Kamran’s grandfather wants to terminate all the threats including Alizeh. This Woven Kingdom is for anyone who enjoys fantasy books about political intrigue, dangerous magic, and forbidden romance.
This book is prfect for fans of An Ember in the Ashes and We Hunt the Flame.
Highlights
- This book has a beautiful world and vivid descriptions that will captivate you.
- It’s inspired by Persian mythology. It also reminds me a little of Cinderella.
- This book has a ton of plot twists and an incredible ending!
- Alizeh is a headstrong character and there is more to her than meets the eye.
- Kamran has a completely different personality from Alizeh. In comparison, he is more sensitive than she is.
Lowlights
- I honestly don’t have any. I just wish book two was already out!
Final Thoughts: This Woven Kingdom is an incredible book with mind-blowing plot twists that will keep you up at night. This is perfect for fans of Sabaa Tahir and if you loved Tahereh’s other series Shatter Me then you’re going to love this one! It is also ideal for fans of We Hunt the Flame. This is a book I read relatively fast and one I’d highly recommend to everyone!
