Nat and Alex Wolff, Passion Pit and More Join New York Times Games for Wordle Anniversary

Wordle

Since its debut, Wordle has grown from a simple daily word puzzle into a cultural phenomenon, becoming a morning ritual for millions of players around the world. Whether solved over coffee, during a commute, or shared among friends and family, the game has become one of the most popular daily experiences in gaming. Now, as Wordle approaches its fifth anniversary, New York Times Games is celebrating in a way that brings the beloved puzzle beyond the screen and directly to music fans across the country.

To mark the milestone, New York Times Games is partnering with a group of artists who have been playing alongside fans for years, including Nat & Alex Wolff, Young the Giant, Priscilla Block, and Passion Pit. Through a new initiative called Wordle VIP (Very Important Player), fans will have the chance to win exclusive experiences at upcoming summer concerts. Beginning June 3, each artist will release a custom Wordle puzzle and hint using the Create Your Wordle Puzzle feature, giving players a unique opportunity to connect their love of music and word games while competing for VIP access to one of four special events.

The promotion offers fans the chance to win a pair of VIP tickets (or equivalent), a merchandise package, and additional exclusive perks. The participating concerts include Nat & Alex Wolff’s June 13 performance at Seattle Center in Seattle, Young the Giant’s June 19 show at Pier 17 in New York City, Priscilla Block’s July 30 appearance at L27 Rooftop Lounge in Nashville, and Passion Pit’s August 18 and 19 performances at The Bellwether in Los Angeles. To enter, fans must solve their chosen artist’s custom Wordle puzzle, take a screenshot of the completed board, and submit both the solution and screenshot between June 3 at 10 a.m. ET and June 5 at 4 p.m. ET. Select solvers will be notified by June 8 and will have 24 hours to claim their VIP experience, with winners responsible for their own travel and accommodations.

The celebration extends beyond the concert giveaway. New York Times Games is also introducing two special anniversary badges for Wordle players, including the game’s first-ever multi-day challenge badge. Fans can unlock the commemorative achievement by successfully solving five consecutive Wordle puzzles from June 15 through June 19, coinciding with the week of Wordle’s fifth birthday.

As Wordle continues to evolve while maintaining the simplicity that made it a global sensation, the fifth anniversary celebration serves as a reminder of the community that has formed around the game. Whether you’re a dedicated daily solver, a music fan hoping to score VIP access, or both, this summer’s festivities offer a new way to join in the celebration.
