Red Bull SoundClash Kicks off With Your Favorite Artists Going Head to Head in Four Cities Across America
Need a concert fix before the end of the year? Pop Culturalist is excited to share a new concert series with four events across America in December to close out the year!
Red Bull SoundClash returns to the U.S. for the first time in ten years. The four shows are in Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, and Nashville. Last night the clash kicked off in Atlanta with a sound battle between SHELLEY FKA DRAM and West Side Boogie.
For those wondering how Red Bull SoundClash works, it features two artists competing across two opposite stages, with the audience deciding the winner.
Each show will feature four rounds of artists going head to head in different musical styles performing songs and in genres they’ve never done before. The show also features special guests who remain a surprise for all the attendees.
Each event is hosted by a musical guest of their own from Paull Wall to Big Freedia, Noelle Scaggs from Fitz and The Tantrums and more.
Initially inspired by the competing sound systems of Kingston Jamaica in the 1950s. SoundClash started in The Netherlands in 2006. Since then the format has performed across the world in over 33 different countries with nearly 100 clashes held. Artists like Erykah Badu, Snoop Dogg and Ludacris have been past clashers, but this year eight different artists are taking the stage across America.
This year’s lineup is:
Atlanta November 30: SHELLEY FKA DRAM and Westside Boogie
Houston December 2: Tank and The Bangas and The Suffers
Nashville December 9: Bren Joy and Jake Wesley Rogers
Chicago December 15: Rico Nasty and Danny Brown
The artists’ genres range from hip-hop to soul to R&B and pop, giving everyone a chance to find an artist to love. Bands and artists musically duke it out with the recipient of the biggest crowd reaction (captured on a decibel meter) to be crowned.
