The Cleaning Lady’s first season was exciting, entertaining, and emotional. The outstanding performances by the talented cast amplified the engaging and compelling stories. They made us feel all the joy, hope, and heartbreak of their characters.

Most Significant Quote

“Look, you and I, we’re both in a country that’s not our own. We’re not afforded the same privileges as everybody else has. When it comes to keeping your son alive, it’s not about doing things the right way or the wrong way, but any way you can.”

(Episode 1×01 – TNT) Arman’s explanation of the American Dream from the immigrant perspective is a harsh reality for many in this country. It’s also exactly what Thony needs to hear as she begins to make morally grey choices for the sake of her son.

Most Heartwarming Moment

(Episode 1×01 – TNT) Thony makes it possible for Luca to play basketball outside for the first time. This sweet scene is a reminder that family is at the heart of The Cleaning Lady.

Most Heartbreaking Moment

(Episode 1×05 – The Icebox) Thony and Fiona are taken into custody by ICE and face deportation. It’s impossible not to be affected as they are callously treated and locked in a cage by agents. This storyline is poignant and heartbreaking in equal measure.

Most Saddest Moment

(Episode 1×06 – Mother’s Mission) Thony confides in Arman about her deal with the organ broker falling through. He’s there to comfort her as she breaks down in his arms over this latest setback for Luca. It’s the first (and only time) we see Thony become overwhelmed by the emotional toll of Luca’s health crisis.

Most Intense Moment

(Episode 1×07 – Our Father, Who Art in Vegas) Arman and Marco have a tense first meeting. The animosity between the two is clear in their eyes and body language. As the saying goes, “If looks could kill.”

Most Romantic Moment

(Episode 1×08 – Full On Gangsta) While in Mexico for Luca’s surgery, Thony and Arman take a moment for themselves. They share a romantic dance under the stars and share an electric second kiss.

Most Badass Moment

(Episode 1×08 – Full On Gangsta) Thony channels her inner gangsta to threaten the doctor in Mexico so he’ll move ahead with Luca’s liver transplant.

Most Shocking Moment

(Episode 1×08 – Full On Gangsta) With no other doctor available to perform Luca’s liver transplant, Thony steps up to do the surgery herself.

Most Emotional Moment

(Episode 1×10 – The Crown) Thony comes home to discover Luca is missing. Her agony and distress is gut-wrenching to witness. Especially after all the hardships and obstacles Thony overcomes to save Luca’s life.

Most Unexpected Twist

(Episode 1×10 – The Crown) With Thony and Fiona’s help, Arman puts his plan into action. He successfully outsmarts the FBI and Hayak to take control of the Vegas crime syndicate.
