#TBT: Glee’s Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson

As we brave the final weeks of winter, there’s nothing that warms one’s heart quicker than love. (Aww.) It comes in many different shapes, forms, and sizes. On this #TBT, let’s look at young love with one of my favorite T.V. couples: Glee’s Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson.

At William McKinley H.S., Rachel and Finn were at opposite ends of the social ladder. Rachel the theater nerd and Finn the school’s star quarterback, their relationship had its ups and downs but it always taught fans important lessons on love.

Here’s a roundup of my favorite Rachel and Finn (aka Finchel) moments.

Rachel and Finn’s First Kiss
Who could forget Rachel and Finn’s first kiss? It was exciting—to say the least—especially for Finn. If you didn’t catch my little joke, re-watch the scene here!

Finn Tells Rachel that He Loves Her
Do you remember that special moment when the person you loved told you that they loved you back?

Well, Finn and Rachel were moments away from performing when Finn said those magic three words: “I love you.” Thankfully, Rachel doesn’t get nervous to perform because I would be a mess!

When it comes to wedding proposals, it doesn’t get better than Finn’s!

“I just feel all my life I’ve been wondering if I was gonna be as much of a man as my father was. Now all of a sudden I’m up at night worried that I’m gonna become the man he was. Let’s face it I got high school hero, life zero written all over me. Except for one thing: you. You’re like a beacon of light, guiding me through the darkness. You’re like this big gold star and for some bizarre reason, you chose to let me love you. I feel like if I can just convince you to let me keep doing that. I’m gonna be okay. Everything’s gonna be okay.

I opened up my first credit card to get this. I know it’s not a swimming pool full of dancers or a tux and it’s not very big. But it’s a promise. A promise to keep loving you for the rest of my life. All you’ve gotta do is say yes. Rachel Berry, will you marry me?”

Finn Makes the Ultimate Sacrifice
At the end of season three, Finn and Rachel are in the car driving to their wedding—at least that’s what Rachel thinks. Instead, Finn drives to the train station where he confesses he’s setting Rachel free. He tells her that she’s special and that she’s not going to defer NYADA. He wants her to live her dreams, even at the cost of his own happiness—the ultimate test of love. I bawled for days!

In a later season, Rachel reflects on Finn’s sacrifice and how in that moment she realized “this is how a man loves.”
