SXSW 2024: Stars Shine Bright at Cinema Center’s Post-Event Celebration for ‘Doin’ It’

The stars aligned as the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film & TV Festival kicked off with the post-event celebration hosted by the Cinema Center. Amidst the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Austin, the Cinema Center played host to an exclusive two-day pop-up, treating attendees to a whirlwind of red-carpet premieres and unforgettable parties. The festivities, held on March 11-12, 2024, showcased some of SXSW’s most anticipated films, but none shone quite as brightly as Doin’ It.

Doin’ It, a star-studded film featuring Lilly Singh, Stephanie Beatriz, and Jessica Clement, took center stage at the Cinema Center’s celebration. As the night unfolded, the cast and crew were greeted with the warm embrace of fans and industry insiders alike, solidifying its status as a festival standout.

After teenage Maya (Lilly Singh) is caught in a sexually compromising position, her mom moves the family back to India so Maya can learn proper discipline. Years later, she returns to the U.S. to find funding for her teen-focused app, and gets a job as a substitute high school teacher so she can research her target demo. But when the principal assigns her to teach sex ed, Maya —who’s still a virgin— sets out on a quest with her best friend to make up for the high school experience she lost out on.

Sponsored by Sommsation, the luxury wine experience, and DTC marketplace, the event boasted an array of curated wine tastings featuring acclaimed producers such as Halter Ranch and Gundlach Bundschu. Sommeliers and concierge services provided A-list talent and filmmakers with an unparalleled wine experience, perfectly complementing the evening’s festivities.

Meanwhile, William Grant & Sons, renowned purveyors of luxury spirits, tantalized taste buds with a mixology-centric cocktail menu. Hendrick’s Gin, the official spirits partner, took center stage with signature concoctions like the “Hendrick’s & Tonic” and the “Hendrick’s Grapefruit Collins,” ensuring that attendees were kept in high spirits throughout the night.

Not to be outdone, Peroni USA returned as the official beer partner, while premium mixer brand Q Mixers added a touch of sophistication to every sip. Together, these sponsors transformed the Cinema Center into a playground of indulgence, where every drink was a toast to the magic of cinema.

Among the films celebrated at the event, Doin’ It stood out as a testament to the talent and creativity on display at the festival. With its stellar cast, compelling narrative, and laugh-out-loud moments, the film captivated audiences and left a lasting impression long after the credits rolled.

As the stars mingled and the night wore on, it became clear that Doin’ It had left an indelible mark on the festival landscape. With its captivating performances and infectious energy, the film had truly stolen the show, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating its wide release.
