Up-and-coming indie artist Vincent Lima felt an instant connection the moment he picked up his first guitar. It became a place where he could channel his emotions and inner thoughts, whether he was feeling alone, upset, or afraid. He found solace in being able to process everything he was experiencing, while putting his mind back at peace.
“I think it’s absolutely necessary for people to have a place like that to go to be able to digest the things that happen in the world they don’t understand. Music has always been that place for me. I write songs because I feel a lot of things, and I’m able to put all of that feeling into my music,” Vincent tells us.
That vulnerability has made Vincent one of the most exciting new voices to emerge in the industry, and is captured beautifully in his new single “Escape.” Vincent shared with us the inspiration behind the song: “This song is about the need to create a place to go when life becomes too difficult to live. A beautiful escape, or a purpose. Sometimes, we need to fabricate that beauty, or that purpose, when life doesn’t give it to us. Life almost never gives it to us. We have to find it. ‘Escape’ suggests that perhaps this fabrication, or this beauty we create to escape to, may not be real. It still manages to take us away from how terrifying life can be sometimes, and that’s good enough. It’s essential that we lean on other people to create this place with. Life isn’t meant to be lived alone. Thus, ‘Escape’ is actually two characters: a female character in verse 1, and a male character in verse 2. They share the same chorus because they have the same feeling.”
