Today we mourn the loss of one of music’s greatest icons, Prince, who has died at age 57. Since his debut in 1979 with his self-titled album, Prince has gone on to become one of the most beloved and respected artists in the industry. With over 50 albums to his name and endless hits including “When Doves Cry”, “Kiss”, “Raspberry Beret”, “Diamonds and Pearls” and of course, “Purple Rain”, Prince has transcended the definition of what an artist is.
Known for his eccentric style and dynamic stage presence, Prince has influenced some of today’s biggest entertainers. A few of them, including Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Elton John, Madonna and many more took to social media to express their condolences:
MTV, VH1 and BET have all switched their programming to playing non-stop Prince music videos and his iconic 1984 film, “Purple Rain”. Be sure to check your local listings to join in on remembering the icon.
A true entertainer, brilliant musician, and overall legend, Prince’s memory will forever live on in our hearts. Rest in perfect peace.
