New York Comic Con 2015 Coverage: Shadowhunters, Part 2

Do these Shadowhunters measure up to the Shadowhunters you’ve grown to love in the book series? From how everyone on Shadowhunters describes their characters, it seems like they will! And, the show seems like it will be full of exciting, dark adventures. The countdown to January 12 begins! Check out the trailer now!

Q: Describe your character in five words.

Matthew Daddario (Alec Lightwood): Alec. [large pause/laughter] Conflicted. Rigid. Leader. That’s three…two more….I would say….caring. Brother.

Harry Shum Jr. (Magnus Bane): Snarky. Sassy. Cat…Like. [laughter]. He’s passionate. Hedonistic.

Dominic Sherwood (Jace Wayland): Five words? Last time I was here it was three words! And that was tough! [laughter] Jace is confident, arrogant, snarky, vulnerable and…vicious at times.

Kat McNamara (Clary Fray): Clary is strong, vulnerable, selfish, loving, and stubborn.

Q: Describe the series in five words.

Ed Decter (Showrunner): Sexy, dark, romantic, mysterious, and exciting.

Cassandra Clare (Author): Um, well probably ‘I’ve only seen the pilot’! [laughter] I mean, for me, I guess I would say that fans are really going to bond with the actors that are going to play these roles. They were carefully chosen and, you know, in a way that doesn’t happen all that often, they’ve bonded together into a unit. I think that they are going to see interesting dynamics between characters that we wouldn’t have time to focus on in a movie. So for people who are really into Jace and Alec, this is your jam. They’re going to have a really intense story line. That’s one of the things that I think is really awesome.
