SDCC 2023: The Can’t-Miss Activations at This Year’s Event

One of the staples of San Diego Comic-Con each year is the countless activities and immersive experiences that attendees and San Diego residents can take part in and enjoy during the event. But with so much to do, you’re probably wondering what’s worth your time. Lucky for you, we’ve put together the six can’t-miss activations at San Diego Comic-Con. You can thank us later. Take a look at our list below and let us know what you’ll be checking out!

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series and films being covered here wouldn’t exist.

Hulu’s Animayhem

Location: Behind the Convention Center

Have you ever dreamt of being in your favorite animated series? Well, that’s now possible, all thanks to Hulu! Located behind the convention center, participants will be treated to several photo opportunities with beloved characters from Solar Opposites, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Futurama, American Dad, The Great North, and Archer.

AMC’s Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe: The Street of Immortality

Location: Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel Terrace

Walk the streets of New Orleans in AMC’s Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe: The Street of Immortality activation. Guests will be transported to iconic locations like Nawlin Records where they’ll interact with an array of characters while enjoying a sip of the Elixir of Immortality.

Paramount+: The Lodge Experience

Location: Happy Does (340 Fifth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101)

Back in March, Paramount+ brought their Lodge Experience to SXSW, and they’ve only made it bigger and better for San Diego Comic-Con. From innovative photo moments inspired by fan-favorite series including Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Yellowjackets, and Spongebob Squarepants to delicious sliders from Good Burger and refreshments crafted at the 1923 speakeasy, Paramount+ activation continues to be a crowd-pleaser and a standout at the event.

Quantum Leap Activation

Calling all TV fans, SDCC attendees and visitors: Ziggy’s mainframe has been hit with a virus and is throwing TV timelines into disarray. Characters are missing, timelines are falling apart and the only way to keep the very fabric of space and time from tearing apart … is to leap! Your mission is to leap into the TV worlds of Law & Order, SVU, and Organized Crime, The Voice, and Chucky, and stabilize the timelines to buy the Quantum Leap team time as they rid Ziggy of its virus.

Adult Swim Festival on the Green

Location: Behind the Convention Center

With live music, comedians, and fun activities, there’s something for everyone at the Adult Swim Festival. Located behind the convention center, Adult Swim is pulling out all the stops. Plus don’t miss the one-of-a-kind Pop-Tarts dining experience and the hydration station powered by Hint.

FX’s Immersive Experiences Inspired by Shōgun, A Murder at the End of the World, American Horror Story, and What We Do in the Shadows

Location: Hilton Bayfront Lawn (1 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101)

FX has taken over the Hilton Bayfront lawn with not one, not two, but four activations. Open to the public, guests will be mesmerized by a historic Japanese performance for Shōgun, board a mock plane for A Murder at the End of the World, stop by an eerie American Horror Story-inspired wellness clinic, and step into a vampire garden for What We Do in the Shadows.
