SDCC 2019: Beyond the Convention Center

Another Comic-Con is officially underway and there’s A LOT happening around the grounds. If you’re wondering what you should check out, we’ve got you covered! We’ve put together a list of activations you have to see to believe.

FX Fearless Forum

Location: Outside the Hilton Bayfront

FX is known for pulling out all the stops and this year’s no different. Attendees can walk through the What We Do in the Shadows lair, get SPF’d up in the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia sunscreen zone, treat themselves at the Archer O2 station, and enjoy a little scare at the American Horror Story: 1984 – Face the Darkness activation (we may have let out a scream or two). If that wasn’t enough to convince you to stop by, there’s also a nightly projections display that will leave you inspired. For more information and to register, head over to FXSDCC.com.

Amazon Prime Video Experience

Location: 450 2nd Avenue

Amazon takes over Comic-Con with activations for The Boys, Carnival Row, and The Expanse. Fans will experience their favorite shows like never before. Details about each individual activation are below!

The Boys activation puts fans in the forefront of a crime scene that needs to be covered up. Lead by two members of The Boys cohort, you and 15-20 other attendees must scour the store and dispose of anything that could lead back to Butcher and Hughie. With the cops on their way, fans have about ten minutes to clean up to search and destroy before fleeing the scene.

Carnival Row activation begins on the backstreets of the neo-Victorian Carnival Row. Guests will be questioned by law enforcement, then moved into the marketplace where they can interact with vendors, pucks, and faeries.

The Expanse activation enlists the help of the fans to assist with a UN peacekeeping mission on the newly colonized planet, Illus. Never seen before, fans will be able to walk and see Illus for the first time. Participants will explore new terra, pursue science-driven discoveries, and attempt to ease tensions between private corporations vying for profit and refugee groups just struggling to survive.

Pennyworth

Location: 35 Fifth Ave

Ready to be transported back in time to 1960’s London? We thought so. Upon entering the Oxford Social Club, attendees will need their wits to unlock a secret entry into The Scarlet Rope, a high-society lounge filled with gambling, drag performances, and sounds from a 1960’s band. But, that’s not all! Guests will be able to play a hand of black jack, take a photo with a glittering cabaret dancer, and enjoy live entertainment before heading into the Library with butlers will be on hand. Members of the mysterious Raven Society will entice visitors with gifts and show off the benefits that come with a membership. From there, you’ll be led into the dungeon where the darker, more unpleasant elements of the association will be revealed.

Audible’s Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light

Location: 327 4th Ave.

Comic-Con attendees will become co-pilots of Stan Lee’s brand new superhero universe through a series of reality-bending light and sound-driven experiences. They’ll meet Cameron Ackeson and trace his origin story from ordinary teen to cyberkinetic superhero. In one of the legendary figure’s final collaborations, Stan Lee’s Alliances: A Trick of Light explores the complex relationship between humankind, science, and technology.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Precinct

Detective Jake Peralta and the rest of the Nine-Nine are looking for new recruits and they want you! Comic-Con attendees will be put to the test through a serious of hilarious and unforgettable tasks. If they complete their mission, they’ll have the chance to join the infamous 99th precinct!
