Pop Culturalist Chats with Sydney Alton

Sydney Alton is an incredible talent making her mark on the entertainment industry. She’s a triple threat who writes, sings, and acts. Her new single, “Up for Air”, is one of the hottest songs right now, and showcases her pop and R&B influences. Pop Culturalist spoke with Sydney about her artistry, musical influences, and who she would love to collaborate with in the future.

PC: Tell us about your new single, “Up for Air”.
Sydney: “Up for Air” is a song I wrote about being let down by someone you trusted but not letting them keep you down and rising above the situation. I think a lot of people can relate to the lyrics.

PC: Do you ever feel any nerves being so open and honest with your songwriting?
Sydney: No, I actually love it! It helps me to be honest with people in writing. Sometimes it’s easier to put your feelings in a song rather than just to say them.

PC: When did you first realize you wanted to pursue music?
Sydney: For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to be a singer and performer. I started singing around the age of two, and I always felt like it was my purpose. I never questioned it.

PC: Who are some of your musical influences?
Sydney: I have so many! I love Ed Sheeran, Sia, and Justin Bieber to name a few.

PC: Who is someone you’d like to collaborate with in the future?
Sydney: I would love to work with Justin on a song. I think our music styles are similar.

PC: Do you have any plans on touring this year?
Sydney: Not right now, but make sure you follow me on all of my social accounts for upcoming announcements!

PC: Of all the songs you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?
Sydney: I think one of my favorites is a song that is not out yet. I really also love “Up for Air” because it’s so relatable and honest.
