This fall season on television has been full of great new shows. From new comedy series to hour-long dramas, 2016 has been a banner year for tv, and the team here at Pop Culturalist has been busy watching it all. The Fall TV season is in full swing and that means there are a crop of fresh faces gracing our screens. One actor that’s caught our eye (see what we did there?) is Tyler Young. He plays Philip Shea on USA Network’s heart-racing crime thriller, Eyewitness—which premiered last week. And, let’s just say, his storyline and character are…complex. Although, only one episode has aired, it’s clear we’re watching the emergence of a new star. Born and raised in Chicago, Tyler honed his craft at The Theatre School of DePaul University.
Holiday Inn, the New Irving Berlin Musical is, in one word, enjoyable. Based upon the 1942 movie version starring Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby, Holiday Inn has been slightly updated while maintaining that classic musical feel (i.e. the blackface number from the movie has been cut from the stage version). Chock-full of some of Irving Berlin’s greatest hits, it falls into the jukebox musical category. Indeed, quiet singing along could be heard throughout the audience during the solid renditions of popular classics (like “White Christmas,” “Easter Parade,” and “Cheek to Cheek”).
If you’re a fan of Netflix’s hit series, Orange is the New Black, then you are probably familiar with actress Miriam Morales (she plays Pidge). A native of Long Island, New York, Miriam has performed in a number of television shows and indie films. Not to constrict herself to just acting, Miriam also writes.
