New Star Trek Series Stars Michelle Yeoh

The next season of Star Trek: Discovery is just a few days away, but Michelle Yeoh suprised Star Trek fans today by confirming a spinoff involving her character, Philippa Georgiou!

Here’s what she had to say about the new series:

“I’m so excited to continue telling these rich Star Trek stories. Being a part of this Universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play. I can’t wait to see where it all goes—certainly I believe it will go ‘where no WOMAN has ever gone before!”

The spinoff is confirmed to follow Yeoh’s character in Starfleet’s super-secret Section 31 division. Michelle was super excited at New York Comic Con last year about her upcoming role in season two. I’m glad CBS has given her the chance to explore the character further!

Though the next Star Trek movie may be on hold for now, at least we can get our fill from upcoming Trek projects like Star Trek: Short Treks, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and that other untitled show with Jean-Luc Picard!

Season Two of Star Trek: Discovery debuts January 17th on CBS All Access.
