Man Crush Monday: Grant Gustin
Grant Gustin plays the fastest man alive on The Flash. And, he’s quickly made his way into our hearts. Here are a few reasons why Grant should be your #MCM:
His Humility
Last year, Grant made an appearance on The View where he told the hosts that he was surprised when he landed the role as the iconic speedster, saying, “I’m not your stereotypical superhero.” But, that’s one of the qualities that makes his character so relatable. And, why he’s re-defining people’s expectations. In the same interview, Grant credited the success of the show to the ensemble cast. What a guy!
He’s an Animal Lover
If you’re following Grant on Instagram, you know he’s an amazing dad to his two dogs: Jett and Nora. They even have their own hashtags (#JettLife & #NeuroticNora)!
He’s A Great Role Model
It’s pretty easy to get consumed by the glitz and glamour of Hollywood but that doesn’t seem to interest Grant. He’s all about his craft. And, it’s really resonated with kids. Who doesn’t remember this moment from last year’s Paley Fest?
Grant started tap dancing at the age of 8. He fell in love with it at an early age after seeing the 1952 musical comedy, Singin’ in the Rain. He showed off his moves on The Today Show.
Grant got his big break on Fox’s Glee. And, he brought his terrific singing voice to The Flash. We’ll steal a line from Caitlyn, “Is there anything he can’t do?”
We here at Pop Culturalist love theater, so I was geeking out after reading this interview Grant did with Adweek. Grant talks about falling in love with theater and his hopes of one day returning to the stage. Yes, please!
And, Finally His Talent
When Grant first appeared on Glee, I wasn’t a fan. I found him very unlikable—so much so that I almost refused to watch The Flash. Thankfully, I decided to give the premiere a chance. And, I quickly learned it was the character that he portrayed on Glee that I disliked and not the actor. It’s at this moment that I realized how versatile an actor Grant is. And, I’m not even going to tell you how many times I’ve cried watching scenes that involve Barry, Joe, and Henry.
I could go on and on about why I love Grant Gustin but I want to know why you’re a fan! Tell us in the comments below.
